Yin Yoga

What is Yin Yoga?

Our muscles are Yang and 30% of our muscles are fascia, and this fascia is Yin.  The movement of our body uses fascia rather than muscle far more than we used to think, the fascia determines our range of movement and so you could argue working in a Yin practice will help improve your flexibility more and a yang practice will work more on strength.

It is a very calming slow form of Yoga, where postures are held for several minutes with the support of various props, all of which are provided at Yinspire where Caroline’s classes are held.

All classes are booked direct via Yinspire please click the link below

SoundBaths

What is a SoundBath?

A SoundBath is the use of Sound and Vibration around the body to promote physical and emotional healing and/or spiritual awakening. In Caroline’s SoundBaths she uses a combination of Tibetan Singing Bowls, Drums, rattles, shakers, chimes, voice and gong. You never know what sound will be flowing to you next!

Primordial sound as used in a SoundBath is a proven way to relax the brain, melding left and right brain function so one is no longer dominant over the other.  This means there is no room for thoughts of the day or the problems that may have been in the forefront of your mind just a short time ago.  The mind has dropped into a Theta state

Frequently asked questions

  • Firstly don’t worry if you have never practised Yoga before Caroline has your back!  Caroline is very used to teaching those with hip and knee issues together with common back problems and all these things can be catered for in the class, she also has vast experience of working with those with Hypermobility and finds Yin Yoga to be particularly helpful.

Caroline will guide you through the practice offering alternatives where needed and helping you to use all the equipment to get the most out of your practice.  Often a short breathing practice (Pranayama) is carried out towards the end of the class before ending with a short relaxation.  Please feel free to bring your own blanket for this part of the class.

  • IMany people choose to lie on a Yoga mat with blankets, cushions or bolsters to make themselves comfortable or you can choose to be seated.  You will be introduced to a variety of sounds, which will waft around you as the SoundBath progresses.  The sounds will transport you into a state of calm and relaxation as you feel the vibrations pass through your body, while you drift in and out of various states of sleep.  Afterwards you will feel more grounded and connected to the world around you.tem description
